I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (NC #3265) and a native Charlottean. So I have seen and
experienced many changes in this beautiful city. I currently live in
Mint Hill with my husband of 40+ years. We have two children: a son
and daughter, both married with children. I am also an animal lover!
I tell you this personal information so you will realize
that I have many roles in my life just like you! I'm a therapist, a
mother, a wife, a daughter, etc. Like you, I am challenged with day
to day problems, and I believe that my relationships and life experiences
help make me a better therapist. |

COUNSELING APPROACH |
|
My primary theoretical orientation that I use for counseling is Cognitive-Behavioral therapy (CBT) where we explore and identify distorted negative thinking patterns and therefore modify our behaviors to achieve healthier behaviors. Our thoughts are filtered through our core belief system based on how we were influenced by our parents (or primary caregivers), all of our experiences, our past traumas, etc. Many times our distorted thoughts can lead to depression, anxiety, relationship issues, etc. and counseling may be very helpful in resolving these issues. The first session is an evaluation session where we discuss the purpose for your visit, the issues that need to be resolved, along with some background information about yourself. If you feel that we are a "good fit", we will schedule another session to begin working on your issues.
